Barry Goudreau is the former guitarist for the rock band Boston. He left Boston in 1980 after tensions with bandmate Tom Scholz developed.
Barry released one solo album, the self titled Barry Goudreau album in 1980 on Portrait Records. The album featured Boston vocalist Brad Delp and future Boston vocalist Fran Cosmo, with Boston drummer Sib Hashian providing the beat. Two singles from the album, "Leavin' Tonight" and "Dreams", were released, but the album stalled at #88 on the charts. Due to ongoing problems with his departure from Boston, Goudreau's album quickly went out of print. In 1996, it was reissued on CD by Razor & Tie Records.
Goudreau would never release another solo album. In 1984, he formed the band Orion The Hunter with Cosmo on vocals and former Heart drummer Mike DeRosier. He would later form the band RTZ which would feature Brad Delp on vocals. In the late 1990s, Goudreau worked with vocalist Lisa Guyer and her band in Massachusetts.
In 2003, Goudreau launched his official web site, designed by RTZ drummer David Stefanelli. He colaborated with his Boston bandmate Brad Delp on his first new album in almost ten years, the Delp And Goudreau album, and released it via his official web site. Goudreau says he released the album for the pleasure of making music and for the fans. Currently, it is not known whether or not he will tour in support of the album.
